Bina and I
July 2018

Out of the darkness

My father sent me a pin back in early 2018 about Unicorn Spit.  I normally look at the pins he sends me pretty fast and reply back but for whatever reason, I didn't this one time.  So a couple weeks later I was bored and was scrolling through the pins he had sent to me and came upon it again.  I was hooked right away.  I researched this stuff up and down.  I watched YouTube videos, I joined the FB groups and I ordered my first set that included all the original colors plus Famowood the Epoxy resin.  It took what seemed like forever for it to show up and I in fact went down to my local Home Depot and bought two colors, Purple Hills Majesty (my favorite color) and Zia Teal (Bina's favorite color).

We started out small, just testing ourselves to see what we could do.  I in fact did a treasure chest for Bina and we did heart signs as well.  Then came the BIG test, a metal side table.  I painted it with Chalk paint and after that dried applies Unicorn Spit and was so pleased with it.  We added Mica Powder for "stars" and then eventually after my Dad showed me how, applied the epoxy.  Since then we have scoured our garage for things we could use for our habit.  I found these two large rounds that we had used to make our old dining room table taller.  I had the idea to make them into Lazy Susan's.

My Dad was on board to help me cut out the rounds and as we were about to go down to pick them up, my husband had a medical emergency, which caused him to die for ten minutes due to a blood clot in his airway.  He was in a coma for two weeks and after three weeks was moved from the ICU to an Acute Care hospital.  Ultimately he went to a couple of skilled nursing facilities and then to an intensive rehabilitation facility where he learned how to walk, talk and eat again.

This is where this "hobby" comes into play.  We had to put it on the back burner for those three months because we weren't sure what was going to happen with him at first and then we spent every moment not at school or work with him.

He's  finally home now and we have started working again.  Each piece of a labor of love and has helped us decrease our stress.  We specialist in Lazy Susan's and table centerpieces.
